RAAF Champlain W T Wheeler offering prayers in the no 2 squadron hangar at USAF base Phan Rang for the squadron commander Wing Commander J Downing and his navigator Flight Lieutenant A Pinches whose Canberra bomber had been shot down by a surface to air missile that day. Downing and Pinches made radio contact with the rescue aircraft at the very time that this service took place. RAAF official photograph G963.
