Studio portrait of 1840 Driver (Dvr) Rainford Thomas Buckman, 50th Battery, 13th Field Artillery Brigade. Dvr Buckman, a 20 year old labourer from Cowra, NSW, enlisted in September 1915 with the 13th Reinforcements to the 1st Light Horse Regiment. He served for much of the war on the Western Front with the 5th Divisonal Ammunition Column, before transfering to the 50th Battery. In France in 1917, Dvr Buckman was fined three days pay for the triple crimes of "trotting transport animals in draught, having no identity disc in his possession and using obcene language to an NCO". He returned to Australia in July 1919, however died soon after, of tuberculosis, on 27 September 1920.
