SX27234 Private (Pte) Newton Trigg, 6 Machine Gun Battalion, with Arthur MacArthur, the son of General Douglas MacArthur. A farmer prior to enlisting on 11 March 1941, Pte Trigg was one of six siblings in the Trigg family to enlist for service during the Second World War. Pte Trigg embarked for New Guinea on 3 December 1943. He returned to Australia on 19 March 1944 for further training at Canungra. Pte Trigg embarked for further service in Borneo on 21 May 1945, returning to Australia on 20 November 1945.
