Letters relating to the First World War service of Captain Geoffrey Gordon McCrae, 7th Battalion. These letters from McCrae to members of his family span the period January 1915 to March 1915 and cover: staging and training in Egypt; various sightseeing trips into Cairo; detailed sketches and illustrations of the scenery; the Turkish and German raid on the Suez Canal in January and February; constant hot and dry weather conditions; observations on Egypt and the locals; preparations for deployment.
