Street portrait of VX130390 Sergeant (Sgt) Halliday James "Did" Simpson and his wife Kathleen. Sgt Simpson served with Headquarters, 2nd Australian Army. His father, Lieutenant Colonel James William Albert Simpson, was killed in action in France on 21 January 1917 during the First World War. His mother, Grace Elizabeth Simpson, was a long serving member of the Australian Red Cross Society. Items related to the Simpson family are held at the Australian War Memorial.
