Pre-enlistment studio portrait of 149 Lance Corporal (L Cpl) John Thomas McKendrick. A farmer of Paloona, Tasmania, L Cpl McKendrick enlisted with the 12th Battalion, embarking as a member of A Company aboard HMAT Geelong (A2) on 20 October 1914. L Cpl McKendrick was killed in action on 11 August 1915, aged 29 years.
