Warrant Officer Class Two (WO2) Rodney Bitters, Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (RAEME), who was the Artificer Sergeant Major (ASM) of The Force Level Logistics Asset - Baghdad (FLLA-B). He was also serving as half of possibly the only father-son duo in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO). His son, Sapper (SPR) Robert Bitters, Royal Australian Engineers (RAE), served with the Mentoring and Reconstruction Task Force (MRTF) in Afghanistan. One of a series of photographs taken in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) by Mal Booth, Head of the Australian War Memorial's Research Centre, as part of the Memorial's Curators in the Field program. This program continues the Memorial's tradition of documenting Australia's experience of war, through observing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and collecting records, photographs, oral histories and objects for the Memorial's National Collection.
