Description

Al-Faw Palace, home of the Head Quarters Multi-National Corps - Iraq (MNC-I) and soon to also house Head Quarters The Multi-National Force - Iraq (MNF-I) when it moved out of the Green Zone in late 2008. One of a series of photographs taken in the Middle East Area of Operations (MEAO) by Mal Booth, Head of the Australian War Memorial's Research Centre, as part of the Memorial's Curators in the Field program. This program continues the Memorial's tradition of documenting Australia's experience of war, through observing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and collecting records, photographs, oral histories and objects for the Memorial's National Collection.
