Description
Informal portrait of Jimmy Kris and Alistair Evans, new recruits from Regional Surveillance Unit North West Mobile Force (NORFORCE), assembling a clark mast radio. One of a series of photographs taken by Tony Albert, the Australian War Memorial's first official artist to NORFORCE. In May 2012, Albert photographed members of NORFORCE's 2012 recruit intake as they undertook training. Indigenous soldiers make up fifty percent of NORFORCE personnel, and are recruited predominately from the area they patrol in order to draw on local knowledge.
