Collection relating to the Vietnam War service of 3790506 Private Laurence Rodney Sheppard, 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment, Vietnam. Collection consists of an original handwritten telegram (in two parts) from Phillip Lynch, Minister for the Army, notifying Private Sheppard's father of his son's death in Bien Hoa Province, Vietnam, when a battalion of the 141st Regiment (North Vietnamese Army), and supporting units attacked Fire Support Base Coral on 13 May 1968. The telegram bears the post office stamp at Sunbury, Victoria.
