Informal portrait of an unidentified Afghanistan National Army soldier manning a watchtower at Patrol Base Samad. He is armed with a US designed and made M249 Minimi Light Support Weapon (LSW). One of a series of photographic studies taken by the Australian War Memorial's Official Artist Ben Quilty, who travelled to Afghanistan with the Australian Defence Force in October 2011.
