Description

Collection relating to the Second World War service of TX2146 Lieutenant Ronald George Williams, 2/40 Battalion. Collection consists of a small black diary containing mainly names and addresses and some notes kept while a prisoner of war in Japan; an exercise book containing a nominal roll of fellow prisoners in Thailand; short diary entries from December 1941 to July 1945; poems, and some Malayan vocabulary; a hand-drawn illustrated Xmas Eve concert programme, "Kannibal Kapers" from 1944; a record of service book; and a demobilization procedure book. Williams was repatriated to Australia and made a statement at the Japanese War Crime Trials which can be found at AWM54 item 1010/4/148.
