Studio portrait of 983 Private (Pte) Sydney Herbert Worth, 23rd Battalion from Geelong, Victoria. A 26 year old warehouseman prior to enlisting on 27 March 1915, he embarked for overseas with C Company from Melbourne on 10 May 1915 aboard HMAT Euripides (A14). After serving at Gallipoli, he went on to serve in France where he was killed in action on 22 August 1916. He is commemorated on the Australian National Memorial at Villers-Bretonneux, France with others who have no known grave. The verso is inscribed "To dear Frank, in remembrance of an 'Anzac' comradeship From S Worth 1915."
