Collection relating to the Second World War service of 39676 Leading Aircraftman Kurt Casper Irwin Koehne, No. 1 Engineering School, Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF), Ascot Vale, 1941.
Collection consists of one notebook written by Koehne during his flight mechanic training at the RAAF No. 1 Engineering School located at Ascot Vale, Victoria, in late 1941. The notebook contains technical notes on aircraft engines and maintenance, including: terminology, engine components, cleaning methods, bearings, serviceability inspections, lubrication, oil pumps, valves, engine running faults, and notes on specific types of engines. It also includes several diagrams.
Koehne passed his flight mechanic training, and went on to become a fitter. He later served with the No. 34 Squadron at Morotai and Labuan, Malaya.
