Description
"Pte J Dunn, 22 Rein, 15 Batt, Frasers Hill, Brisbane." Studio portrait of J Dunn, either 6864 Private (Pte) Ernest Dunn, 15th Battalion or 7467 Pte James Dunn, 9th Battalion. A drover from Oonooba via Townsville, Queensland prior to enlistment, Pte Ernest Dunn embarked with the 22nd Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Kyarra on 17 November 1916. Later transferring to the 1st Divisional Train he developed chronic bronchitis and returned to Australia on 24 August 1918. Pte James Dunn, a cane cutter from South Townsville, Queensland prior to enlistment, embarked with the 25th Reinforcements from Sydney on HMAT Hororata on 14 June 1917. Later transferring to the 41st Battalion, he was wounded in action and returned to Australia on 8 January 1919.
