Studio portrait of 3936 Private (Pte) John McDonald Weir. A selector from Augathella, Queensland, prior to enlistment, Pte Weir embarked with the 4th Pioneer Battalion from Sydney on HMAT Hororata (A20) on 13 June 1917. On 16 June 1918 Pte Weir suffered a shell concussion, was invalided to Englang and then returned to Australia for medical discharge on 29 October 1918.
