Studio portrait of "Pte D Williams, 22 Rein, 15 Batt, Frasers Hill, Brisbane." It is possibly 6112 Private (Pte) David Williams, 15th Battalion. A miner from Blair Athol, Queensland prior to enlistment, Pte Williams embarked with the 19th Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Itonus on 8 August 1916. Whilst serving in France, he was wounded in action but remained on duty. On 17 October 1917, aged 24, he was killed in action at Passchendaele and, having no known grave, is commemorated on the Menin Gate Memorial, Ypres, Belgium.
