Studio portrait of 6859 Private (Pte) George Bernard, 15th Battalion. Originally from Hull, England, Pte Bernard was a labourer from Hughenden, Queensland prior to enlistment and embarked with the 22nd Reinforcements from Brisbane on HMAT Kyarra on 17 November 1916. After committing several misdemeanours on the Western Front, he returned to Australia on 25 September 1919. This image is from the collection of 507 Pte John Thomas Frederickson, 2nd Machine Gun Company.
