Description

Letters relating to Dorothea Ellen Adams, sweetheart of 30239 Driver Gordon Cecil Buckingham Champion, 1st Divisional Ammunition Column. This file contains letters written to Adams by Lieutenant Harold James Cole of the 33rd Battalion. These letters cover: the heat and conditions in the trenches on the Western Front; Wilton Campbell Gamack of the 19th Battalion, believed missing in action; leave to and sightseeing in England and Scotland; the journey back to Australia after the war, including the collision of S.S. Themistocles with a coal barque; unrequited love; congratulations on the engagement of Adams and Champion. This file contains:
