Pre-war studio portrait of Allen Leslie Smith. A fitter and turner from Sydney, NSW, Allen Smith enlisted in the RAN on 16 September 1927and rose to the rank of Chief Electrical Artificer (CEA). 18762 CEA Smith was killed in action, aged 36, when HMAS Sydney was sunk in the Indian Ocean by the German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran on 20 November 1941.
