Ford, Roy Leonard (Lieutenant, b.1921 - d.2005)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of QX19174 Lieutenant Roy Leonard Ford, 61st Infantry Battalion, 1939-1943.
Collection consists of:
1 x black faux-leather covered notebook with 'NOTES' embossed on the cover. The notebook contains definitions of key terms from training, then, around the middle of the notebook are some general notes about movement to and action in New Guinea. The final pages of the account are mistakenly written up as '1942' instead of '1943'; and
1 x brown-covered 'Australian services writing kit' with a gold embossed map of Australia, the Southern Cross and "Good Luck!" on the cover. The notebook contains several poems, two of which appear to be attributed to 410161 Eric John Jewell. The poems relate to war services and experience in the Pacific. These include subjects such as the meaning of life, death of a friend, and the importance of friendship.
