Studio portrait of A Francis wearing the uniform of the Women’s Emergency Signalling Corps (WESC). Believed to be WR/505 Alison Laura Francis from Killara, NSW who served in the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) from 29 December 1942 until 27 November 1945 when she finished her service as a Wran Telegraphist. One in a series of portraits of early members of the WESC, many of whom became WRANS. The album of portraits was compiled by Mrs Florence Violet McKenzie OBE, founder of WESC, which trained Signallers and Telegraphists.
