Studio portrait of 372 Corporal (Cpl) Arthur Evan Ridout Thomas, 18th Battalion of Bankhouse, Pembroke Dock, South Wales, England. A fireman prior to enlistment, Cpl Thomas embarked with the 5th Brigade from Sydney aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June, 1915. He died of wounds at Gallipoli, on 27 August, 1915, aged 26. Cpl Thomas's medals are also held in the National Collection.
