Studio portrait of M Ibbottson wearing the uniform of the Women’s Emergency Signalling Corps (WESC). Believed to be WR/32 Gloria Merle Ibbottson from Sydney, NSW who served in the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) from 27 December 1941 until 24 December 1945 when she finished her service as a Petty Officer Wran Telegraphist. One in a series of portraits of early members of the WESC, many of whom became WRANS. The album of portraits was compiled by Mrs Florence Violet McKenzie OBE, founder of WESC, which trained Signallers and Telegraphists.
