Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of 726 Gunner Leslie Drummond Hore, 36th Australian Heavy Artillery Group, Egypt, France, Turkey, and United Kingdom, 1915-1917.
Collection consists of 11 complete letters and 3 partial letters, spanning the period 27 February 1915 to 17 May 1917. The letters discuss subjects such as tourism and leave in both Egypt and the United Kingdom, mentions of action seen in the Somme, time spent in hospital in the UK for scabies, and family affairs including news relating to his three brothers who he occasionally sees, but frequently mentions. Also included is a black and white postcard depicting the beaches at Gallipoli, with a discussion about where he landed and the task that were before him.
