Studio portrait of Josephine Miller wearing the uniform of the Women’s Emergency Signalling Corps (WESC). WR/20 Josephine Julie Miller from Sydney served in the Women’s Royal Australian Naval Service (WRANS) from 2 June 1941 until 25 November 1946 when she finished her service as a Third Officer (Sub Lieutenant equivalent). One in a series of portraits of early members of the WESC, many of whom became WRANS. The album of portraits was compiled by Mrs Florence Violet McKenzie OBE, founder of WESC, which trained Signallers and Telegraphists.
