Mixed collection relating to Private George McLeod (2008) ROH, 47 Battalion AIF
Description
Studio portrait of (right) 2008 Private (Pte) George McLeod, 47th Battalion, of Torbanlea, QLD, and an Australian soldier identified only as 'Joe'. A miner prior to enlistment, Pte McLeod embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Clan McGillivray (A46) on 1 May 1916. Pte McLeod was killed in action in Belgium on 8 June 1917, aged 29 years.
