Description

Khor al-Amaya Oil Terminal (also known as Khawr al-Amaya) (KAAOT). KAAOT housed the naval headquarters of the coalition-led Commander Task Group 158 (CTG158), which provided security to Iraqi offshore oil terminals in the Northern Arabian Gulf. One of a series of photographs taken by Mal Booth, Head of the Australian War Memorial's Research Centre, as part of the Memorial's Curators in the Field program. This program continues the Memorial's tradition of documenting Australia's experience of war, through observing the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and collecting records, photographs, oral histories and objects for the Memorial's National Collection.
