Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Kiem (pointing), commanded the Viet Cong D445 Battalion during the Battle of Long Tan and one of his former Company Commanders, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Duc Thu, who commanded C2 Company. Both former Viet Cong Commanders meet Ian McNeill during his visit to Vietnam to gather material for the official historian. In this photograph the former Viet Cong officers are explaining the developemnt of the Battle of Long Tan to Ian McNeill in the Long Tan Rubber Plantation. A colour version is held as P01293.010.
