Description
3782 Sapper G J F Carter, 3rd Australian Light Railway Operating Company. Amputation to both legs above the knee.
This image is from the Australian War Memorial’s Medical Series. This is a formed series, collected from a number of unknown sources. There are a broad range of subjects which include technical drawings of medical equipment, a series of images relating to patients at 2nd Australian Auxiliary Hospital, and water sanitation in the Middle East. There is little contextual information for the series, but it is suspected that it was assembled by the Australian War Records Section during the collation of images for the Official History of the Australian Army Medical Services 1914-18, written by Lieutenant Colonel A G Butler.
