Embroidery of the Australian coat of arms with 'Commonwealth of Australia' embroidered above and 'Australia' below.

History / Summary

Embroidery made by Private Thomas Walter George Mason, NX1206, 33 Battalion AIF whilst he was convalescing. Private Mason embarked on the 'Marathon' on 4 May 1916 and was wounded at Passchendale. He was discharged on 27 March 1919. He died in 1939. The embroidery was framed by his family and kept by two generations.
