Major General (Maj Gen) Ian Gordon, Head of Mission, United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation (UNTSO), with Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Meadham, Commanding UNTSO's Observer Group Lebanon. Maj Gen Gordon was inspecting the memorial to the four UN Military Observers killed at Patrol Base Khiam, during the conflict in 2006 between Israel and Lebanese forces in Southern Lebanon. This is one of a series of photographs relating to Maj Gen Ian Gordon AO who retired from the Australian Army in 2009. Maj Gen Gordon had a long and distinguished career culminating as Deputy Chief of Army (2004-2006) and Head of Mission (Chief of Staff) of UNTSO (2006-2008).
