Studio portrait of NX36483 Private (Pte) Harry Blanch Weiss, 2/30 Battalion of Singleton, NSW. Pte Weiss was taken prisoner of war of the Japanese and died of illness whilst in captivity in Thailand on 30 September 1943. Two older brothers of Pte Weiss were killed in action in the First World War; 3578A Pte Frederick Alfred Weiss, 53rd Battalion on 19 July 1916 at Fromelles and 11147 Bombardier Erle Victor Weiss, 1st Australian Field Artillery Brigade, on 9 August 1918.
