Studio portrait of 21677 Able Seaman (AB) Malachi James McKeown, HMAS Sydney. Previously a merchant sailor, AB McKeown enlisted in the RAN in 1937. He was killed in action on 20 November 1941, aged 22, when the ship on which he was serving, HMAS Sydney II, was sunk in the Indian Ocean by the German auxiliary cruiser Kormoran.
