Pre-war studio portrait of QX25626 Private (Pte) George Henry Upton, 2/12 Field Ambulance. Pte Upton was killed in action on 14 May 1943 when the Hospital Ship Centaur was sunk by a Japanese submarine south of Moreton Island, off the Queensland coast. From the 332 people on board, only 64 survived.
