Group portrait of one British and two Australian prisoners of war (POW) wearing diamond shaped ...
Description
Group portrait of one British and two Australian prisoners of war (POW) wearing diamond shaped tags on their caps which are probably work party numbers. On the right is an indigenous soldier who is most probably 7701 Private (Pte) Walter Bright. The name and address pencilled on the back of the photograph is "M.(?) W Bright, Wagga Wagga, Post Office, N S Wales." Walter Bright, a labourer from Wagga Wagga, enlisted on 31 July 1917. He served with the 4th Battalion and was captured in September 1918 in France. He was interned in Stendal camp in Germany. This image is from the collection of 3718 Private (Pte) Frank Leslie Corpe, 13th Battalion who was a POW in Dulmen and Stendal camps.
