Description

Informal outdoor portrait believed to be of the crew of Lancaster serial number ND732, radio call-sign P0-Y (Y-Yoke). Identified back row, far right is 411690 Pilot Officer (PO) Kenneth George Feeney, 467 Squadron of Kogarah NSW. PO Feeney and the crew of ND732 were listed as missing after the aircraft failed to return from an operational sortie over the bomb marshalling yards at La Chappelle, France, on the night of 20/21st April 1944. It was determined after the war that the aircraft was hit by flack over the target and crashed at Le Blanc Mesnil on the south east side of Paris-le-Bourget airport, killing PO Feeney and his six crew members. At the time of his death, PO Feeney was aged 27.
