Description

Studio portrait of Corporal (Cpl) Victor Pascoe Leinster, 51 Battalion, Citizens Military Forces (CMF). Cpl Leinster served for over three years in the 51 Battalion before enlisting as a Private (Pte) with the Second AIF on 20 July 1940 under the service number QX15180. He was promoted to Lance Bombardier (L Bdr) and served with the 2/10 Field Regiment in Malaya. L Bdr Leinster was taken prisoner of war (POW) by Japanese forces on 15 February 1942 and held in a POW camp in Borneo. He died of illness on 22 February 1945, aged 26 years. (See also P02468.062)
