Group portrait of a crew, 102 Squadron RAF. Back row from left to right; Sergeant (Sgt) Jock Craig RAF, Sgt Sammy Magill RAF, Sgt Arthur Aylmer RAF. Front row from left to right;418787 Flight Sergeant Jim Beecroft RAAF who enlisted in on 23 April, 1942, and trained in Australia, the UK and the US as a navigator, bomb aimer and pilot. His plane was shot down in 1944, and he was interned as a prisoner of war (POW) at Stalag Luft VII at Bankow. He was later interned in Stalag IIIA at Luckenwalde until the end of the war. Beecroft was discharged on 10 October 1945 with the rank of Flying Officer. Sgt Charlie Kidds RAF, 410386 Flying Officer Stanley Sambell RAAF who enlisted on 6 December 1941 and was part of the same crew as Beecroft when their aircraft was shot down in 1944, he too was held as a prisoner of war (POW) by the Germans. He was discharged on 2 March, 1948 with the rank of Flight Lieutenant.
