Description

Studio portrait of 17554 Private (Pte) Frederick Charles Martin, Australia Army Medical Corps. A tram driver from Marrickville, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Martin originally served with the Field Hospital, Liverpool, NSW before embarking from Melbourne as a member of the transport staff of HS Karoola on 25 April 1917. On 30 August 1917 he returned to Australia and was medically discharged. Later enlisting in the Australia Naval and Military Expedition Force with the service number 1403, he served at Rabaul and returned to Australia on 12 March 1919.
