Description

Studio portrait of 1634 Private (Pte) Alfred Richardson, 14th Battalion, of Coleraine, Victoria. A miner prior to enlistment, Pte Richardson embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Runic (A54) on 19 February 1915. Pte Richardson died of wounds at Gallipoli on 21 August 1915, aged 36 years. Pte Richardson was one of four brothers who served at Gallipoli: 3357 Driver William Keerin Richardson, 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade; 2518 Pte Charles John Richardson, 16th Battalion, and 14 Corporal George Henry Richardson, 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade.
