Group portrait of three Australian soldiers and one New Zealand soldier. Identified, left to right: Richard 'Dick' Watson; 7392 Sapper (Spr) Charles John Richardson, Australian Corps Headquarters Signals Company; Leonard 'Len' Phillips and William 'Bill' Burton. Spr Richardson initially enlisted under the service number 2518 and embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Chilka (A51). He was wounded at Gallipoli and returned to Australia where he was medically discharged. Spr Richardson re-enlisted in June 1917 and re-embarked for service in England and France. He returned to Australia in July 1919. Spr Richardson was one of four brothers who served at Gallipoli: 14 Corporal George Henry Richardson, 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade; 3357 Driver William Keerin Richardson, 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade, and 1634 Pte Alfred Richardson, 14th Battalion, who died of wounds on 21 August 1915.
