Studio portrait of VX125585 Private (Pte) William John Richardson, 14 Australian Field Baking Platoon, and his father, V16730 Pte William Keerin Richardson, 9 Garrison Battalion. Pte William John Richardson enlisted in June 1943, serving as a baker in the Australian Army Service Corps (AASC) in New Guinea until he returned to Australia was discharged in September 1946. Pte William Keerin Richardson enlisted for Second World War service on 26 June 1941 at the age of 50. He had previously served during the First World War with the 3rd Light Horse Regiment at Gallipoli and with the Anzac Mounted Division in the Middle East. Pte William Keerin Richardson was one of four brothers who served at Gallipoli: 14 Corporal George Henry Richardson, 3rd Australian Light Horse Brigade; 2518 Pte Charles John Richardson, 16th Battalion, and 1634 Pte Alfred Richardson, 14th Battalion, who died of wounds on 21 August 1915.
