Description
Studio portrait of 1685 Private (Pte) Joseph Henry Penn, 25th Battalion. A printer from Grafton, NSW prior to enlistment, Pte Penn embarked with C Company from Brisbane on HMAT Aeneas on 25 June 1915. While serving at Gallipoli, he became ill and was evacuated to Alexandria. Later serving in France, he was declared as missing in action. A subsequent court of enquiry determined that he had been killed in action on 14 November 1916, aged 20. Following the Armistice his remains were recovered and interred in the Warlencourt British Cemetery, France.
