Davison, Andrew Graham (Warrant Officer, b.1913 - d.2004)
Collection relating to the Second World War service of 423667 Warrant Officer Andrew Graham Davison, No. 115 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force, United Kingdom, c.1945-1990.
Collection consists of one Caterpillar Club membership certificate of Warrant Officer Davison, dated c. 1945, and one receipt from the Caterpillar Club, dated 6 August 1990.
Warrant Officer Davison served as an air bomber with the 115 Squadron during the Second World War. On the night of 21 January 1944, Warrant Officer Davison and his crew had just completed bombing a target at Madgeburg, Germany, when their aircraft was hit by an unknown object and caught fire. All members of the crew attempted to bail out. However, only Warrant Officer Davison and two others were successful. Shortly after, they were captured by the Germans as prisoners of were, and were interned in camps until April 1945. As a person who had successfully used a parachute to bail out of a damaged aircraft, Warrant Officer Oliver was offered membership to the Caterpillar Club.
