Collection relating to Spr Rodger Arthur Broom (22015), Australian General Base Depot
Description
“No 5 Tent at Park House Camp, May 29th 1918”. Group portrait of soldiers who embarked with the General Reinforcements, Engineering Field Companies from Sydney on HMAT Persic on 21 March 1918. From left to right, back row: 22162 Sapper (Spr) Frank Swanston Smith; 22115 Spr (later Corporal) William Joseph Morrow; 22175 Spr Stuart Ormonde Vincent. Middle row: 22015 Spr Rodger Arthur Broom; 22178 Spr George Herbert Ward. Front row: 22073 Spr Malcolm Halliday; 22189 Spr Shirley Watkin Williams Wynn. All men returned to Australia after the conclusion of the war. Sprs Broom, Vincent and Wynn also served in the Second World War. Spr Wynn, then a Lance Corporal with the Australian Army Service Corps Depot, died from injuries on 4 October 1942.
