Description
Diary [book 1E] relating to the captivity, during the First World War, of Captain Thomas Walter White, Mesopotamian Half Flight, Australian Flying Corps. In this diary kept between August-November 1916, White details his time as a prisoner of the Turks at Afion Kara Hissar camp, Turkey. In particular he notes the arrival of prisoners from the siege of Kut-al-Amara and their treatment. White mentions the Battle of Romani, the exploits of Australian submarines, AE 1 and AE 2 and the massacring of Armenians. He also writes of searches by the guards and the surrounding landscape, town and its people.
