Outdoor portrait of 2247 Private (later Sergeant) Stuart Alan Webb shaking the paw of a kangaroo. This image is annotated "Good-bye Australia". Webb embarked with the 4th Reinforcements to the 28th Battalion on 1 October 1915. He was wounded and captured on 16 November 1916 on the Somme and taken prisoner of war (POW). Initially hospitalised at Mariahilf in the Reserve Lazarett, he was then imprisoned at Minden, and later at Friedrichsfeld. Webb was released in November 1918 and repatriated to England. In July 1919 Sgt Webb left England for Australia where he was discharged.
