Description
Section in Barrack 4B Friedrichsfeld. Wooden beds line the edge of the room with a central table, eating dishes hang above it and a violin and papers on the table and music on an attached stand at the end. From the collection of 2247 Sergeant (Sgt) Stuart Alan Webb, 28th Battalion. Sgt Webb embarked with the 4th Reinforcements on 1 October 1915. He was wounded and captured on 16 November 1916 on the Somme and taken prisoner of war (POW). Initially hospitalised at Mariahilf in the Reserve Lazarett, Webb was then imprisoned at Minden, and later at Friedrichsfeld. He was released in November 1918 and repatriated to England. In July 1919 Sgt Webb left England for Australia where he was discharged.
