Description
Studio portrait of 952 Private (Pte) Standish Lockhardt Matheison 'Stanley' O'Grady, 18th Battalion, of Darlinghurst, NSW. A cook prior to enlistment, Pte O'Grady embarked for overseas service aboard HMAT Ceramic (A40) on 25 June 1915. Pte O'Grady served at Gallipoli and was listed as missing during the attack on Hill 60 on 22 August 1915. A court of inquiry held in 1916 declared that Pte O'Grady had been killed in action, aged 19 years.
